Ancient Prophets Speaking to Today’s World
Come explore the relevance of the Old Testament prophets for contemporary culture. Many find these difficult books to engage with, full of challenging language, confusing imagery, and messages of judgement and negativity. We will see that beneath the harsh judgments lies a vision of what life should be like—a sense of the right relationships, the proper order of things, God’s shalom.
This core message is just as applicable today as it was then. We'll examine how this framework can be relevant in our context, and how we can connect the messages of the prophets with the stories we encounter in the media and the world around us.
We will be joined by Dr Tony Watkins, fellow for public engagement at Tyndale House, who has spent many years relating the world of the Hebrew prophets to evangelism and cultural engagement.
